Orleans Justice Center undergoing security audit
NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — An operational and security audit is underway at the Orleans Justice Center, according to the Orleans Parish Sheriff's Office.
OPSO officials said the audit, which is reportedly designed to strengthen jail safety, compliance and effectiveness, began on Aug. 3, with the arrival of officials with the National Institute of Corrections.
They said it will allow the OPSO to review and improve key aspects of the facility's operations.

The NIC team arrived on Sunday, Aug. 3, and began a walkthrough of the facility. The audit will focus on several areas, including:
Control centers and communications
Inmate counts and controlled movement
Key control and perimeter security
Physical plant security
Segregation and use of force policies
Emergency preparedness
Security inspections
Staffing and post coverage plans
